The book eyes that are like two suns was made in an edition of 250 to accompany Luke
Stettner’s solo show at the Kate Werble Gallery in fall of 2011. Stettner’s photographs were
taken on extended walks around Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Marfa, Texas. The
images are made from 35mm negatives and photographed with a Nikon F3 that belonged
to Stettner’s late father. The essay, written by Carmen Winant, is an independent piece of
writing inspired by the photographs, as well as an tool with which to read the larger body of
work.
